Eating Disorder Conference and 5th Annual Women’s Retreat
September 20-22, 2019
Snow Mountain Ranch • Winter Park, CO
Are you a counselor, dietician, life coach or other health professional?
Have you been looking for training and certification to work with eating disorders?
Would you like to share “soul food” with wise women in a magical mountain setting?
During this special eating disorder conference and weekend retreat just for women, you can earn 20 CEUs and a certification in Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy (EDIT)™ which is a comprehensive approach for the treatment of eating disorders, featuring a combination of evidence-based practices and innovative integrative techniques.
Become an EDIT™ Certified III – Eating Disorder Treatment Clinician or an EDIT™ Certified III – Eating Disorder Recovery Coach (you must meet specific education and licensure/training requirements, described in detail on the registration page).
Learn the 5 Principles of EDIT™ with Dr. Dorie
Not only will you explore what these principles mean from a clinical standpoint, you’ll also discover how to truly live these five principles in your own life! Over the course of the eating disorder conference weekend retreat, you’ll become nourished with “soul food” through introspection, exploration in nature (walking, hiking and horseback riding options), and deep connection with the other women on the retreat. You’ll return home with enhanced clinical skills, enriched self-care, and enlivened friendships.
Experience Wilderness Therapy and Enhance Your Intuitive Therapist Abilities
An essential part of the EDIT™ Method involves guiding clients to shift from the chatter of the eating disorder mind (ED) to inner wisdom which Dr. Dorie calls the Intuitive Therapist (IT) within us all. EDIT™ Certified Eating Disorder Recovery Coaches and EDIT™ Certified Eating Disorder Treatment Clinicians facilitate this ED-IT transformation by modeling the voice of IT until clients can hear IT within themselves.
During the retreat, Dr. Dorie will guide you in a variety of Wilderness Therapy activities designed to access the inner wisdom of your own Intuitive Therapist. You’ll leave the retreat with many tools and techniques to use with your clients, along with the ability to be an Intuitive Therapist role model for your clients.
This experiential group retreat of up to 12 women is conducted by the creator of EDIT™ – “Dr. Dorie” McCubbrey, PhD, MSEd, LPC, LAC, CEDS. Participation in this retreat fulfills most of the requirements to be EDIT™ Certified III, with the benefits of a group retreat experience amidst the Fall colors in the mountains of beautiful Colorado. You will experience clinical training sessions, soulful connection with other retreat participants, along with the opportunity to truly LIVE the five EDIT™ Principles yourself!
Lodging, meals, training materials and access to retreat activities are included with eating disorder conference registration. Over the course of the retreat weekend program, participants will explore the concept of “thought ED-ITs” – to shift from the mindset of the Eating Disorder (ED) into the healing wisdom of the Intuitive Therapist (IT). Role plays will illustrate a dialogue between ED and IT, for each of the five EDIT™ Principles – Love Your Self, Be True To Your Self, Express Your Self, Give To Your Self, Believe In Your Self.
Dr. Dorie has a unique perspective on Intuitive Eating, featuring the “Three Reasons Why We Eat” and how to compassionately enhance awareness of these reasons as a means of transforming eating-disordered behaviors. You’ll learn how to apply Dr. Dorie’s key strategies for Intuitive Eating and Mindfulness Meal practices, as you enjoy a selection of lunch options at our retreat facility. These interactive techniques can be used during meal sessions with your clients.
In addition, you’ll experience Body Image Techniques, Mindful Movement Techniques, Healthy Coping Skill Techniques, Self-are, Techniques, Relapse Prevention Techniques – and much more!
We’ll begin with a group discussion of the difference between eating disorder recovery coaching and eating disorder treatment provided by counselors, social workers, psychologists, and other clinicians. Then, Dr. Dorie will lead a breakout session for Clinicians, while a special guest Mary Casey, EDIT™ Certified III – Eating Disorder recovery Coach will lead a breakout session just for Coaches. This will give you confidence in your specific skills, plus help you learn how to collaborate with other professionals!
After watching the webinars prior to the retreat, you may submit your EDIT™ Certified Test to Dr. Dorie for review. This short test features basic questions about the EDIT™ Theory and Principles, plus a case study where you can demonstrate the application of EDIT™ Techniques. Although this test will not be “graded,” it is required for documentation of your EDIT™ Training and to become EDIT™ Certified I.
If you prefer, you may complete your test at the retreat (time will be allowed for this).
Your retreat registration includes a BONUS 3-hour Webinar Workshop, which features role play videos and the opportunity for group discussion and Q&A. The next Webinar Workshop is August 27 @7-10p EDT, and if you can’t participate LIVE, Dr. Dorie will email you a recording to watch before the retreat. Please note that doing a role play with Dr. Dorie is your “Oral Exam” to pass the EDIT™ Certified II requirements.
